Mobile Device Fundamentals Vs Consumer Mobile Device – Where Do We Go From Here? (D21a)
ETSI has published TS 103 732-1, the Consumer Mobile Device PP, along with a set of PP-Modules (TS 103 732-2 Biometrics, TS 103 732-3 Multi-user, TS 103 732-4 Preloaded Apps, and TS 103 732-5 Bootloader & Root of Trust). This PP is being used as the basis for evaluations under a scheme produced by GSMA.
NIAP has published and long-maintained the PP for Mobile Device Fundamentals (currently at v3.3). This PP, since its publication in October 2013, has been used for numerous evaluations and is still in active use.
These two PPs have a certain amount of overlap, but based on their focus (enterprise vs consumer), they have many differences.
This talk will cover the following topics:
– Comparison of the PPs (and their associated modules)
– Explanation of the differences and the implications regarding the coverage provided by the requirements
– Potential updates to better align the two PPs and how this could fit with trends around modularity and reusability of Common Criteria
