Andrea Billet

After training at the Naval Academy in Livorno, Andrea Billet graduated in Electronic Engineering from the University of Pisa. Subsequently, while serving on Italian Navy ships, he managed the technical aspects of on-board electronic systems in various contexts and operational theaters. From 1997 to 2001, Commander Billet served as the national representative in two programs established by the Italian and the US Navies for the collaborative development and management of missile systems, first in California, then in Washington D.C. Subsequently, he oversaw the integration and coordinated the contractual activities for purchasing and installing the combat system on the new Italian aircraft carrier, also taking responsibility for the security certification of the on-board computer networks. His subsequent assignments were at the Fleet Headquarters, the Navy General Staff and the Navy Shipyard in Taranto, where he managed the life cycle of electronic systems and technical human resources. At the Defense General Staff he headed the Integrated Systems Office of the VI Department, where he managed network architectures for military applications, focusing specifically on security, interoperability and resilience requirements. After reaching the rank of Rear Admiral, he was selected for assignment at the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, from 2013 to 2021, as managing director in the information security sector with direct responsibility for product certification, approval of computer networks and cryptographic applications, accreditation of test laboratories and connected auditing activities.

In June 2022, Andrea Billet became Head of the Certification and Oversight Service of the National Cybersecurity Agency.
