A Transition to New Algorithms: Encryption, Key Establishment and Entropy—the CMVP Perspective (U12b)

NIST has announced a transition to new algorithms that affect a wide range of cryptographic functions. The Triple-DES algorithm will be retired. The standards for key agreement, key transport and key derivation algorithms have been updated. An entropy standard has been published with another one getting drafted. We will discuss the rules developed by the CMVP to smoothly administer this transition. We will also address the differences between the CC and CMVP methodologies for validating the entropy sources.
