Cloud HSM for Governments Enabled by CC (D21b)
Hardware Security Modules (HSMs) become increasingly important in providing the root of trust for a variety of digital services. Today, HSMs safeguard multiple markets from banking, telecom and enterprise to government and critical infrastructures. Similarly, HSMs are key to safeguard new technologies including 5G, Post Quantum Crypto, cloud security. Their universal use, paired with the need for performance and the right level of certification has lead to a completely new product design. Containerization is used to provide multiple independent HSMs on a single hardware with autonomous firmware, functionality (e.g. general purpose HSM, timestamping, PQC…) and support for multiple certifications. Naturally, this product has a unique advantage for the government market with the right level of certification, which is Common Criteria. For the first time, such product will be certified and used in government set ups. The presentation will highlight the challenges, requirements, general architecture and benefits of CC for the practical use of cloud HSMs for government projects.
