Developing an EAL2 Protection Profile and an Evaluation Methodology Document for Prepare and Measure Quantum Key Distribution Modules (A22b)
Quantum Key Distribution (QKD), which enables information theoretically secure key establishment, is about to be put into practical use. Security evaluation and certification of QKD modules are under standardization process in ETSI and ISO/IEC JTC1. A draft of Protection Profile (PP) with EAL4+ for will soon be published from ETSI. Japanese teams are now developing a draft of PP with EAL2, which is within the scope of the CCRA mutual recognition, and an evaluation methodology document (EMD) supporting the PP. We introduce our activities on drafting the PP and the EMD for cost-effective security evaluation and certification of QKD modules.
